Summer Camp
Every summer, our student volunteers join the Salvation Army Summer Day Camp as counselors, helping with academics, science, music, and art. This role allows them to contribute to the development of young people's skills and relationships. The camp serves underprivileged youth, including children affected by domestic violence and refugees. It's a great opportunity for our volunteers to make a positive impact while gaining valuable experience.
Math
Our Math Homework assistance class offers individualized and small group sessions for students in grades 5 through Algebra 1. These classes are tailored to each student's learning pace, allowing them to progress more rapidly, delve deeper into the material, and avoid falling behind.
Coding
An interactive coding class where you get hands-on tutoring on how to code. We start with the basics with Scratch and work up to writing complete code using Java!
Art
In this art class, students will explore their creativity through hands-on projects that will introduce them to different mediums and materials. Each lesson is designed to be fun and engaging, while also educational. Students will explore art from different historical periods and cultures, gaining an appreciation for the diverse arts. Through this class, students will not only gain foundational drawing and painting skills but also learn to think creatively. We hope to create a welcoming environment where students are encouraged to express themselves and have fun.
Hands on Science
We host interactive science classes with fun experiments for elementary school students on Sundays. Hands on Science is committed to serving children in underprivileged communities, and our teaching plans are utilized by Salvation Army Corps in other states.
